Hello to all. I am new to this forum and hope that I can get some info. I have a 1995 Escort and the starter has gone out on it. Will the starter from a 1990 model work on the 1995 if they are both for the 1.9 lt engine?

The service manuals go from 91 to 00 so they won't tell you.

But there are a couple of ways to see whether it will fit.

One way would be to phone a wrecker and ask. They might not tell you but you haven't lost anything. Their computers will have all that info because they need to know what cars on their lot they can pull parts from in order to match your engine. Just ask them if you can put a starter from a 1990 into a 1995.

The other way is to pull the two parts and compare them. The odds are if they two parts look the same, and the engines are the same, then they will work. it's unlikely the manufacturer would suddenly change the voltage a lot while the two parts continue to look the same.

Hope this helps. Let us know what you find out.
