Angry very confused

just replaced a motor in a 98 se ! hooked everything up hit the key, it craked for a bit before starting, but ran a bit rough, and had a strange whining sound coming from the passenger side firewall area ! tried to give it a a little throttle to see if it would smooth out, and it died ! Now there is no spark or fuel, I figured that perhaps I did not have adequate clearance on the crank sensor ? So i replaced it, but still has the same symptom ! replaced the ground connections, to insure good ground, still no change ! I can hear the ccrm cycling, when I turn on the key, but there appears to be no relay function in the distribution block that is in the engine compartment. Im getting pretty frustrated, and not sure what else to try. Is there a simple way to test the pcm ? Is there something that I am overlooking >?

Before trying to offer any suggestions need some addl info.
Where did the replacement engine come from ?
Was the vehicle the exact same year make and model , if not , that was a mistake.
You can't swap engines like in the ole days. There are too many changes between models and years to play that game these days. Your best bet is to start with determining if you are getting a crank pulse, then go from there. Do you have power to the injectors any time when the key is in the on position ? Did you check all the fuses? After we get some answers to these questions , may be able to offer further checks.

PCM's do crap out sometimes for no apparent reason. Always a good practice to do a series of thorough checks to prevent the replacement PCM from doing the same thing.
