water pump removal

do I have to remove timing belt to replace water pump on a 99 zx2 2.0 dohc motor? it looks like I don't have to, but don't want to try until I know ...Thanks...John

the timing belt is independent of the water pump. The only thing you will have to do is remove the serpentine belt
