excursion dies like it's a bad battery cable, but it's not
I have a 02 excursion, 5.4. At first it was a bad battery cable that was causing it to die at stop lights and stop signs. Brand new battery as well. After I swapped out the cable it seemed to run fine for a day. Yesterday it started doing the same thing again. checked the terminals, all good, but the problem still remains. I believe a different perspective changes everything, so here i am. Any ideas????

If you have a way to check this, connect a voltmeter to one of the fuses in the panel under the dash. It should read system voltage which should be 12 to 14 volts.
What we are looking for here is, if that voltage drops when it quits, you now know you are looking for a poor connection supplying the system. If system voltage drops for any reason the PCM shuts down and fuel and spark go with it. I'm suggesting this based on your observation of the poor battery cable and you could be right . It's worth a try .

I would have no way of checking this because it is really intermittent. I just changed the TBS. It's all I could think of. I also thought about the IAC as well. It has not done it since I changed the sensor but it has only been one day and I have not taken it on a long ride. Thank you for your idea and if you have any more please let me know. Thank you
If you take the vehicle to a shop equipped with a recorder they would do the same thing.
There is nothing wrong with leaving a meter hooked up and when the engine quits just look at the meter. If you want to keep replacing parts I guess you can keep going since there are plenty to replace. It does get kinda expensive , especially when you get to the expensive ones. Intermittents can be quite elusive and you need to start somewhere.
Something you can try, have the computer checked for any stored codes . The problem may not occur often enough to set the MIL, but may have set a code waiting for another malfunction to show itself.
Also try to clean the throttle body & butterfly have been known to produce similar problems.
