1997 Expedition Unused Connector Under Dash?
1st Gen Expedition. What is this connector?
1997 Expedition XLT 5.4L
I changed the GEM. I cannot remember if this connector had a home when I took it all apart. I can't see anywhere that it could connect. Does it look familiar to you?

I will double check that one when I get back to the shop but I think I thought of that one. I remember missing something just one time before🐶 Thanks hanky.

I guess I will have to check when I go to the wreckers 🤔

Home of the 'mystery connector'
The connector clips into, and stores in the gray holder at the bottom of the lower dash panel, right below the fuse box.
On the reverse side of the gray holder it says 'SUSP/EVO TEST'. Any idea what this is?

Hi Tinkering,
I have a few questions before I POSSIBLY could offer any useful suggestions.
1. Is there another rectangular plug connection under the dash easily accesable from the driver's seat (maybe 16 pins)
2. Is there another small plastic covering over another wire that may have fit into the (Home) you found?
I have some info on '97 Ford diagnostics, and it get so involved being familiar with diagnostics even puzzles me.
My next attempt , unless someone can clear this up sooner, is to locate a wiring diagram and see where the Red and Green wires in that plug originate.
Usually that type diagnostic as I recall, was located in the engine compartment and was associated with an OBD l system. In a 97 model puzzles me.
Are we sure of the year of this vehicle?

hanky,
I will look more under there when my back ache subsides.
When I pulled the driver's side 'kick' panel off (to gain access to the seized parking brake light switch screw; incidentally had to move the fuse box back a little too) I found a retangular connector under there with perhaps 16 wires; the 2 halves are held together by a center bolt.
I will have to hunt later for any other connectors or wires that might meet your description.
I am sure of the year. 1997

hanky quote, "Usually that type diagnostic as I recall, was located in the engine compartment and was associated with an OBD l system. In a 97 model puzzles me."
Especially when there is an OBD II scan connector under there tooo.
There are 3 wires in that SUSP/EVO TEST plug. I can't make out the 3rd wire color in the picture , so will let you know soon.
I see the other socket in the 'home' cover that you mentioned. I will look to see if that plug exists.
