Default 2005 Expedition Hicups upon acceleration!

This problem happens upon mild acceleration. I installed a new fuel filter thinking it was old and clogged but ended up still having this problem. When I changed it gas drained out. Two mechanics who saw this said there should have been about 35 to 40 lbs of pressure when I unhooked the fuel line. That told them that my fuel pump was bad. However, when driving when I would punch the accelerator the engine roars to life and can even pass another car easily. This should be when the pump is failing right??? This is when the sensor is calling for maximum fuel. It seems to me that the problem is not the pump because it should bog down when the computer senses that maximum fuel is being called for. What is going on? I need help. I can't afford to take it to a shop right now.

You might consider taking it to Autozone and they will check if there are any codes in the computer's history file. If there are be sure to get the #s.

did you check the fuel regulator ? if there,s gas in the vacuum hose then it,s sucking the gas from the regulator preventing enough gas to get to the injectors ! it could be that or an injector hanging up ! if the regulator is working good then run a fuel and vacuum test on the engine ! if the vacuum and fuel test good then run some good fuel system cleaner through it !

Default hiccup

if it does it around 45 MPH your probably getting chatter on converter lockup. its when your transmission is trying to shift into overdrive. Ford used the wrong type of transmission fluid. you need to bring to them and have your fluid and filters changed. they will also do a diagnostic check and reset the computer.
