I'm driving a 2004 Expedition 4x4 XLT SSV (police package) that belonged to a fire department, with 108,000 miles on a 5.4L 2V. I paid my mechanic to check it before I bought, they did find a few minor things, but no problems with the trans.
I put oversize tires on it, 1.1 inches taller than stock, and I'm using a tuner. I did play around with the programming, but I put it all back to the stock program well before the first trans started slipping.
I've been driving it for two years when the transmission started slipping, leading to an replacement. I paid for a Ford certified replacement. I've had it back from the shop for less than two weeks and this replacement transmission is slipping; it was towed to the shop yesterday. I put a little over 300 miles on the replacement trans when the slipping started.
any input on what the heck might be going on would be appreciated.
thanks for your time.
