hummmmmmmm. well i would like to say my f_c_i_g pice of s_i_ gives me the same problem. might i say it looks preaty dum a 6'3" bald guy opening and shutting all the doors on an suv 2 or 3 times in a row trying to turn off a light in the middel of a parking lot. some times i get so mad i have to watch myself when shutting the back glass. i thing one of theses times i might break it on accadent. now that would suck. gut hay look at the bright side of it, i'm still making payments on something that i cant turn the light off on. woohoo[sm=smiley18.gif][sm=smiley5.gif] so i'll try the wd40 thing cleaning all the sensors if i can find them. then we'll see what happens. if all else fales explosives WILL fix any thing.

Try opening/closing the rear window. Unfortunately, you'll probaby need to troubleshoot the switches until you find the culprit. On my 98 Expedition, it was the rear window... but it only needed an adjustment to close the switch.

Good Luck.

Default Door Ajar

First door ajar problem on 2000 Ford Explorer: was on fuse 25. Interior lights, mirrors, etc. stayed on and drained the battery. Door locks were intermittent. Dealer couldn't identify the problem. Finally found a mechanic shop in Roseville, MN that found the Rt rear door SOL & latch assembly were bad and replaced. Worked.

A year later, another door ajar problem. Exterior Lights stay on way too long after shutting vehicle off. Locks are affected and brake lights must be intermittent (had the lights replaced, verified they work) yet a sheriff told me today to check my driver's side brake light). Verified the fuses are ok. Seems to be the tailgate that sets off the door ajar - plus lights around license plate don't work and there's no problem with bulbs.

Will try the WD40 but if anyone knows more before I spend $$'s to be legal, please share.
