My 2010 ford expedition wont start.
this is a problem that has been happening for the past few months. Everything works fine then when I go to turn on the ignition there are no lights. Nothing comes on. Only the blinking of the antitheft key immobilizer on the dash. I sat there a few min. moving the shifter, turning key on and off, then I messed with the radio and everything turned on. Everything was fine for a month then when I was in a parking garage it happened again. I disconnected the neg cable because I had to get a ride and there was a lot of clicking coming from the fuse box over the radiator( that is the location on that year) when I came back the next day, I reconnected the neg cable and the alarm/horn went off. I hit the fob and it stopped. I tried the ignition again and nothing...... no lights only the red light that showed the immobilizer icon showed locked. My buddy put car in neutral and we started to push car out of garage when He hit the horn while making a turn and everything came on! WTF!! I brought key to locksmith and he said the chip signal was good. I brought car to my mechanic and told him to replace the immobilizer around the ignition, Everything was fine for a week or so until today when it happened again. There was that clicking coming from the fuze box/relays again so I disconnected the neg cable and called AAA . The car has 80K on it and runs perfect otherwise. It is an ex cop car from PA and has all the HD options. Can it be the body control module or one of the relays? I wanted to have it towed to the mechanic while it was doing this but he has no room at this time. I read on another thread to check the started for ground/corrosion but that would not disable ALL the lights/icons on the dash when starting would it? I might as well try to test it myself while it is here since it never happens while I'm around my mechanic. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
I don't know about advice, but something you might consider.
A good part of the time, crazy problem are the result of corroded/poor connections.
If the spirit so moves you,you might just start from the battery and loosen ,clean and reinstall all ground connections you can see. You might get lucky...
