Odd noise/vacuum pump?
Occasionally when starting my '99 Expedition I hear a load moaning noise that is coming from what appears to be a vacuum pump (with a sight glass) that's located under the hood in the front right-hand area of the engine compartment (just in front of the windshield wiper fluid reservoir).
The moaning noise lasts approx. 10 seconds and stops. It makes the same noise even when not running as it sits in the driveway. The noise is intermittent and stops when you open one of the back doors -- coincidence or haunted?
Anyone have an idea of what could be causing this? Thanks.
