RE: REAR END NOISE(BAD) IN EXPEDITION 2003
I have an 03. Mine made some noise but was also causing vibration in turns when it was cold. The garage finally found it was a bad set of clutches in the limited slip rear. If you have this rear that is probably your problem.

Ahh, I've come to the realization that the only noise worth fixing on my truck is the one I can't drown out w/ my radio...mind you it's a 91...anyways, good advice Ramrod, the rear-ends are notoriously bad on some of the newer trucks and rwd cars...don't know why, but I think they've fixed the problem on the newer models...ah well, good old recalls...

RE: REAR END NOISE(BAD) IN EXPEDITION 2003
I have a 2003 Eddie Bauer. The first time I've heard the noise was at 500 miles. They replaced the clutch kit. Then repeated at 25000 miles, and replaced clutch 2nd time, and, guess what? AGAIN at 42000 miles (out of 36000 mi. warranty). This time, before going to the dealer, I asked for REPURCHASE, running the Lemmon Law. But, the law requires to give an opportunity to the manufacturer to repair the vehicle (the 3rd time), as if two is not enough. I did, and now I'm waiting for the next time to finally give this too-poor-quality-vehicle back, and NEVER buy a Ford again
