Default Shaking!!

Hi! We have a 2002 Ford Expedition that is like new! Almost 2 years ago, we bought 20" rims and new tires for the truck and also had the front end aligned. The current issue is not new, but has now become an ongoing, never ending issue! At around 45 mph all the way to 55 or 60, the steering wheel shakes and it feels like the front end is about to fall off! We have been told there is nothing wrong with the tires, the rotors may need to be replaced, but that it could also be the timing rod??? Someone mentioned to us that there is a part to replace that costs around $40, but I am sceptical to say the least. This vehicle has been wonderful and we have taken VERY good care of it. I would hate to spend thousands of dollars though just to find out it could have been a $40 part! Any suggestions? similar issues?

Sounds like tires out of balance. Have you tried having someone else balance them? If it was the brake rotors you would only get the vibration when braking. Anything loose in the front suspension will make it worse, check the drag link and if it is a 4X4 the track bar. Sometimes tightening the steering gear adjustment about 1/4 turn will help too.
