Some questions about automatic transmission
Hello!
I will buy Ford Expedition II 2004 with Triton Engine 5.4 V8 260 h.p. In Russia I can't find any detail information about this car. I founded at Ford.com/USA user manual about this car but section about work A/T very small and not helpful.
I have next questions about A/T at this car:
#1 Can I switch A/T mode from "D" to "2"/"1" at move?
#2 Where I can find information about driving techniques about how towing trailer with this A/T?
#3 What model of A/T installed at this car?
Thank you for your answers!
p.s.> Sorry for my bad English

Welcome to the site..
It would have the 4R100 behind the 5.4..
In the door jamb is the 'vehicle certification label'. On it is all the information as far as axle, spring, paint, trim, radio/audio, etc coding.
On the label and to the 'right' of the axle code you'll see 'TR' below it is the transmission code.
Here's the possible codes for engine combinations.
E — Four-speed automatic (4R100)
U — Four-speed automatic (4R70W)
W — Four-speed automatic (4R75W)
Here's a link to the 04 towing guide. Towing Guides | fleet.ford.com
You can manually select gear functions,, to aid in shift hunting or to help with over run shifting and/or to help in holding back speed under towing/loaded weight (to a degree) But, you wouldn't want to select manual 2 and pull from a dead stop etc....
