Stuck in park

Stuck in park
My 1997 Expedition is stuck in park...The fuse for the brake light will blow as soon as it is replaced...I have replaced the brake switch...I have disassembled the dash to inspect the wiring between the fuse box and the brake light switch. The fuse still fries even is the connector is disconnected from the brake light switch.
If I disconnect the battery I can shift the transmission into neutral, start the vehicle and drive it. When I place it back into park it is there until I disconnect the battery.
Any help out there?

RE: Stuck in park
Try unpluging the shift lock actuator on the lower column, replace the fuse and see if it still pops.. Brake pressure switch as well as their both on position #13 15amp.. Also, disconnect the cruise servo amp/module.. Few other things on that circuit but try these first..

RE: Stuck in park
Vehicle is FIXED! Turned out to be a relay problem for the cruise control that Ford has a recall for. After the repair was done by Ford the problem went away. Had to unplug the the steering lock so I could drive it to the dealer.

RE: Stuck in park
Should be this recall... But thats is/was the 'Brake Pressure Switch' for cruise deactivation that I was referring too in the previous post.. Glad they got it fixed...

2011 Expedition XLT stuck in park
hi folks,
my 2011 XLT had an electric problem. Gear shift stucks in park position - blown fuse(breake light) has been replaced in that case - and it worked. So far so good - but this happened several times in the last 7 days and we run out of spare fuses.
My Ford dealer has replaced the electric connections within the trailer coupling after 5 days searching and billed over 500$. But yesterday it happened again. What i must say is, that the Expedition is very rare in germany and even Ford didn't sell it here(i imported this fancy car by myself). But has any one a suggestion, what i can tell the dealer/service team to find the cause?
It will be helpfull to get the wiring diagram for the shift lock solenoid or the brake switch.
regards from Germany...
