Default Wrench tool sign in meter.

Hi,
I have Ford Expedition 2012 XLT (Full option) - 5.4L - 4WD - AUTO

have just got a wrench tool sign in my meter. Can anyone tell me what it could be and how serious it is?

After that the common issue's I've noticed are as follows:
  1. The break padel is not releasing the gear from P. I've to press break padel 3/4 time in a row to get it released.
  2. Cruise control has stopped working.
Can anyone please advise.
Regards
Faisal

That's limp mode don't drive further, just a trip to autozone and tell them to do a scan for you if you don't have a good code reader yourself.
How serious? Be expected to spend $1000+ if it's tranny or turbo.

Non-turbo that's good news to you. Still, go get a free scan to see what codes you have. Please note that you could get a code that doesn't trigger the check engine light.
When it's in limp mode, any non-essential device can stop working, for instance, radio, hvac and abs so don't be surprised, just try not to drive it if at all possible until you know what's going on.

Hi Heiko,
Got it scanned and luckly there are only 2 notifications been found. Need to change the Break paddle sensor (the gear gets stuck in parking in parking and the lock in handle releases in 3/4 break pushes).
1. B2266-60 Left Side Blend Door Circuit Fault.
2. B1003-60 Mode Door Circuit Error.

Could that wrench sign will go after changing the break sensor?

Brake pedal switch is relevant to the shifter not able to shift issue as well as the cruise control but it should not put your car in limp mode, you need to try another free scan elsewhere.
Blend door controls the hot and cold, do you have no heat or no AC? Don't blindly buy a new blend door actuator, sometime it's the blend door itself losing grasp (female) from the actuator (male). In your situation when you get circuit fault it might be possible to do a reset.
Sorry I don't have diagram for your car, I have any car up to 2008.
