Question 1994 Ford Explorer won't start

I've got a 94 Explorer, 4.0, 4x4, Eddie Bauer that I left parked last November when the stoplight switch failed for the 2nd time in 2 months. (Is kind of a pain to change for a big guy) Battery was dead, wasp had moved in but the dang thing fired right up with a charge. Had about 1/8 of a tank of gas when parked. 1st thing I did was fill her up. Drove it to work and back 50 miles round trip and it ran like the old days for 2 days. Spitted and sputtered a little and the occasional backfire on acceleration. But it was doing that when I parked it. On day 3, she was turning over but no hits what-so-ever. I've switched out one of the relays for the fuel pump and I also can hear the fuel pump, pump when key is initially turned on so it is running wether or not it's pumping. Also shot some starting fluid in thru breather and she fired right up. Obviously a fuel problem but where do I go now? I've located the fuel rail port but not the fuel regulator. Don't have a fuel pressure tester, yet. Any advice will be appreciated!
