Default 1996 EB Belts and Pulleys

I noticed a noice yesterday morning driving to work, after listening with the hood up, realized it was probably a pulley getting stuck. I work with a mechanic and he said he would have to take the belt off and see which pulley was not spinning and fix it for me. Well I went out tonight and had to force my 1996 5.0 V8 Explorer home. It didn't even make it in the driveway. Anyway....The belt is loose and it would appear part of a pulley is no longer attached to the car. Any and ALL help is appreciated, I will be working on this tomorrow since I cannot get to work. Is this something that I can attemp myself, or should I just try to make it to a garage.
Thanks
