Hey group,
I recently purchased a 2012 Explorer Limited with an ecoboost engine. Everything about the vehicle is great and we love it, but on cold start is has a strange rattling noise for about 3-7seconds coming from the engine bay. Any Ideas on this? I tried to do a search and came up empty.

There have been times when a thinner oil was able to get up to the valve train sooner reducing the noise problem. Do you have an idea what grade/weight motor oil is presently in the engine. Suggest you check with your local Ford dealership if this update applies to your vehicle.

 

I have no idea what's in there right now, I just picked it up from the Lexus dealership 2 days ago. They gave me a 90 day 3k warranty on it so I may go exercise it.
