Default 2012 Explorer, strange electrical problems

I just purchased a used 2012. Found out there is some strange electrical things going on. Some of the control buttons (like "radio scan") will activate other controls (like the fan), etc. I tried to update SYNC (don't know if that would fix anything) but since part of the instructions is to press "scan", and that turns on the fan instead, I couldn't complete the upgrade.
What could the problem be? Expensive?

Thanks

If you purchased it from a dealer there may be a short time warranty. If not, depends on what you consider expensive. Usually a module is misbehaving and a good scan tool may be required to pin it down.
There is the radio module
the instrument cluster module
The HVAC module
ABS module
lighting module and on & on.

Some shops have the equip to check all that.
Sometime it is a poor connection. You may wind up going to a dealer to have it checked out.
It might even have a code stored which if you can get that code , may be able to offer possible help.
