Question 2013 Ford Explorer Head Light power issue

I have a 2013 Ford Explorer Limited. Passenger side head light is out. Checked fuses and no issues. Bulb is no issue but not getting the 12v to the bulb. This car has the left and right low beam fuse which is good and no issues. Looked over the owners manual and the internet and seen a few other things to try in the fuse area. Found no issues. With the car running and lights on, high beam. If I unplug the passenger side wiring harness from the head light you can hear the wiper or shutter open and close for the low and high. Has anyone had this issue?

So the driver side low and high beams both work correctly but the pass side low and high beams do not work. Do you have halogen or HID headlights? You said bulb is no issue so I assume you have accessed/seen it and can google to see what type of bulb it is.

Default Lights

Have the halogen lights not the HID. The low and high beam works off the shutter. There is no true low/high with the 2013. The 2013 has the projector type and the shutter opens and makes the high beam. Have power to the projector or shutter assembly but no power to the bulb.

Here are the wiring diagrams. Verify you have voltage at BCM fuse 16, then check for voltage at connector C1041A pin 2, verify continuity from C1041A pin 1 and battery ground.
You could also just plug swap driver and passenger headlamps and see if it works.

Default Power

Have 14.2 volts at the shutter but no voltage on the plug for bulb. Checked 16 and 17 in the driver side fuse box under the dash. BCM I think they call it. Read on the net this box rarely goes bad. Checked all the plugs that plug into this box. Will check the wiring diagram that was sent in the morning. Will get back to you. Thank you for the help.

Check continuity between C1041A pin 1 and battery ground.
Check continuity between C1041A pin 2 and BCM fuse 16.
Check continuity between C1041A pin 2 and C2208E pin 1.

If you have continuity between all that its possible that since there is a FET on the headlight circuit you need to clear the fault code from the LCM, I think you will need a Ford program to do that.

Unfortunately if you do not have continuity between C1041A pin 2 and C2208E pin 1 there are no other connectors you can check at so you will have to follow the wiring harness, cut it upon, locate the correct wire and check for continuity at that point then do that all over again till you determine where you lose continuity.

There is always the option to do a layover, which is cutting C2208E pin 1 wire about 3 inches from the connector and splice a new wire to it, then run this new wire all the way to the headlight and do the same at C1041A pin 2. The risk with doing this is that if you locate the actual wiring damage you may find other wires that are also damaged that will cause future issues.

Default Testing

We’ll have continuity where needed. Problem found. No output on pin 1 on the C2280E. So guess new BCM module. I guess I can replace this but dealer will have to program it?

Ok so you have continuity on power and ground wires.
Did you have C2280E unplugged when you checked for voltage at the BCM?
You should leave C2280E plugged in and puncture the wire insulation an inch or so from the connector to check for voltage.
I have never replaced a Explorer BCM, I would recheck your electrical testing.
Its also worth having the dealer do a self test and clear fault codes and see if that fixes it. Some modules will not work as long as a fault code is present even if the fault has been repaired.

Yes the dealer will have to program a new BCM.
