Default 2020 Explorer temp gauge.

2020 Explorer Limited 4 cyl. I've owned this for 7 months. When i first bought it, the heat gauge was at 3 bars normally, if i Geneve correctly. Now it's always at 4 bars. That's 1/2 to the H. Coolant is full. Is this normal? What does it normally sit at for you guys?

Depending on the thermostat presently in the engine, some open at 180 degrees F and some open at around 195 degrees F.
The ones that open around 195 will usually show slightly beyond mid point on the temp gauge. The higher rated thermostats will provide a cleaner burning engine and a little better heat in the winter.

Dash gauges are not to be relied on. You are correct as you have noticed a change from what was typical during the seven months you owned it.

Connect a scan tool and see what temperature the computer is actually seeing. 3 bars, 4 bars or the halfway point is not a good way to say an engine is running at the correct temperature.
