Default 92 Explorer parking brake

I'm, a newbie here, but NOT to Fords. I own/ have owned a LOT of 'em.
Iwas recently givena 92 Explorer which has no intermediate parking brake cable. I got the one spec'd for the car from my long-time, best parts guys, but it was about 10-12" too short. We tried several other years, but they were all 8-10" too short as well.
Can anyone shed any light on this?
BTW: As far as I know, the parking brake assembly (pedal, front cable, rear cables, adjuster, etc.) are all the original units- NOT aftermarket, replacements.
I'm going to try the only local NAPA store today. I'd appreciate any help/suggestions.
Thanks

Default RE: 92 Explorer parking brake

Just an update. I went to NAPA and met a couple of very UN-helpful guys who couldn't care less. On the way home, the guys at another store suggested the 'universal cable', one of the 'HELP" products.
For $13.00, I got 10' of cable (more than enough), several styles of clamps, and I now have a functioning parking brake!
Such a simple solution, yet no other store suggested it! Go figure!
