Default 96 explorer abs light

I have a 96 Explorer and the ABS light pops on periodically and I lose my ABS brakes. I found out today, that not only does my ABS brakes go out, I lose 4 wheel drive. If I turn the truck off and turn it back on, it fixes the light, brakes, and 4 wheel drive, but then the light will pop back on at no specific time and I lose brakes and 4 wheel drive again. Does anyone know my problem? Is it the wheel bearing? I replaced the passenger front wheel bearing in the past, but not the driver front. Thanks

sounds to me like when you did replace the wheel bearing before you may have screwed up the wheel sensor in the process of doing the bearing, this may explain the light coming on and lose of functionalityin the brakes and 4 wheel drive system. other then them wheel sensors being messed up or somthing i cant think of what would do that. and as far as changing more bearings i wouldnt think that would help the problem your haveing. if it were me id take it a shop or dealership and have them check it out really well as some problems with abs system can not be corrected at home anyhow besides when it comes to your brake system its better not to take any chances..be safe and good luck to you i hope you get it figured out
