I have a 96 eddie bauer with the autolamps. i have looked at all 43 pages in this forum and couldn't find the answer to my problem. my problem ismy headlights won't work. everything works ( parking lights and brights) but just not the regular head lights. i have checked all fuses, and tried using the actual switch and nothing seems to work. if anyone has any advice on what i should do i would love to hear from ya. thanks for any help in advance.

 

If you have an Eddie Bauer I believe you have that computer display in your SUV for mileage fuel consumption, system check etc. I had a front right head light that wouldn't work one day. I replaced the bulb and it worked for a while then when out. I got another one and would't work despite the fact it worked on the left side so it wasn't the bulb. The connections were ok and I couldn't see any reason it wouldn't work. Took it to my mechanic and $500 later he discovered a relay in that computer that was bad. Apparently connections to the headlights are routed through this computer and if it don't work your headlights don't work. Nice! I believe in later models years this has changed as my 2000 Limited the computer dosen't perform a headlight check.

 

well you were right thats what it was. i took it to my mechanic just cause i didn't want to rip the dash out. i can't wait till i get the bill... anyways i just wanted to say thank you.
