Some Ford alternators are controlled by the PCM. Were the parts obtained from identical vehicles? Can you be more specific as to where the replacement parts came from and are they going on the 2000 Explorer?

All the parts are from a 2000 explorer. The alternator has two wire connectors, one basicly goes to the battery and the other has a couple of wires. How do I deal with the two wires to get this thing to charge ?

I am having trouble with the charging system on our 2000 explorer as well, the first problem started when i had to replace the gear shift rod in the column, shortly after that the Alternator would not charge the battery, I've replaced the alt 3 times and the battery 2 times,I've checked all the fuses, traced all the wires, I am stumped! It will hold a charge after using a battery charger as long as the vehicle is not running!

mine got fixed by changing two wires that come off the alternator. The big wire stayed the same but the three wire harness got off and one of the wires was not used one was connected to 12 volts and one was connected to 4 ohms. Fixed by a guy in Boise.
