HI THERE,
Y 96 EXPLORER EB 6CYL HAS A PROBLEM WITH THE HEAT THAT I JUST CAN NOT FIGURE OUT. THE ONLY WAY THAT I CAN GET THE BLLOWER TO ACTIVATE IS BY PUTTING THE FAN SETTING ON MAX. IT WILL NOT TUN ON AT ANY OTHER POSITION. ONCE I GET THE FAN GOING IT WILL ONLY BLOW OUT COLD AIR NO MATTER WHAT TEPERATURE I SET THE CLIATE CONTROL TO. IF I PUT THE CLIMATE CONTROL ON ON AUTOMATIC THE FAN WILL NEVER COME ON. I CHECKED ALL THE BASICS. BOTH HEATER HOSES ARE PRESSURIZED AND ARE BOTH HOT. THERMOSTAT IS NEW. AND ALL THE VACUUM LINES IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND UNDER THE DASH ARE CONNEDTED PROPERLY. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. I HAVE TO FIX THIS THING OR I AM GOING TO END UP WITH A VERY BAD CASE OF PNEUMONIA. THANX IN ADVANCE.

 

Sounds like you have a bad AC controller. But make sure, run a self test on the controller, hit OFF-Floor and Automatic at the same time. It should give you a code in about 30-60 seconds, with the engine running. You could have other problems, like the AC blower motor speed controller and the blend door actuator or even a broken blend door shaft. Let's see what the first test shows us.

sorry for the late reply and thanx for your replies, i ran the diagnostic teston the heater control and it gave me a CODE 115. any additional info that you may need i will be more than happy to supply and thanx again for ur help.
