Hello Everybody, first of all sorry for my English I am from Tbilisi, Georgia so English is not my native language.
now about my car, I bought this car in march 2019 since that I owned 2 gen explorer Limited witch I sold after rollover in Georgian (tusheti) mountains.
Till September 2019 everything was great I have gone to many places included same mountain where I rollovered but in September I got "Check Transmission" on dashboard and till this week after 6 try of repairing the transmission I got 6 failures. Best automatic transmission mechanics here in my country tried everything but some times I got no 3 gear, or delayed shifting, or no 4 and 5 gears or only 1 gear and reverse. Only 1 time there was everything good but got same message after 300 Miles highway driving.
So I tired and found 1 guys who is doing swaps. He is swapping mercedes engines to Mitsubishi pajeros and Nissan Patrols but I asked if he can swap Mitsubishi Pajero 2 Aisin Transsmision (It also was on some Toyota Landcruisers) to my car and he sad that it will be first time he will do it but it worth a try. Pajero 2 Aisin transsmision is 4 speed 3 solenoid very tough Transmission it can handle 5.5 mercedes AMG Engine with 37 -38 Inch MT Tires on car so on my car it will last forever. It is very cheap also in junkyard 100-150$ with transfer case. it also has same gear ratios except of 1 -st gear. ford 2-5 and overdrive is very close to aisiნ 1-4 and overdrive.
I bought Transmission already and after 10 -14 days he will start. 1 thing is clear 4 sure he can fit transmission to engine and make it work to shift up, down and make kickdown and lock clutch. There is several options what to do with transfer case and need your advice guys, there is option #1 to install pajero 3 transfer case that can bolt on aisin transmission but it is unclear at this moment how we can mate stock electronic switch control to pajeros controls. option#2 leave stock trasfer case with some kind of adapter from transmission. Still unknown how can I get my Speedometer working as it is taking data from transmission speed sensor witch is 2 wire sensor and is different from aisins 3 wire sensor, still unknown how will my Advence Trac System will react and it will work or not, And many more things that will occur during installation process.
Maybe someone already done it and you can point me where to find thread about it? maybe u can give some advice. I love this car so I am ready to go through this hard process and every word will be very helpful!
