Default New Owner of a 97 XLT

Hi all,
New owner of a 97 XLT V6 4.0 Liter. Gorgeous rig, prior owner kept it in amazing condition, looks just like it's off the show room floor.

My question for you all,

Unsure of the 4X4 options. I have a switch with 3 options 1) Auto 2)High 3)Low... and one of them has to be chosen. Now I read the owners manual and still abit confused. The book reads that when the selector is in Auto that it is in 4 wheel drive for everything but ice and deep snow. So I am correct in saying that I own a AWD explorer. Or do I own a 2WD explorer? Please educate me, I know this is simple stuff but my brain isn't computing right now,

Thanks alot,
Wes

Your Explorer is 4 wheel drive on demand in Auto mode. It will engage awd when needed on snow or ice automatically. In 4wh it is locked in 4wd regardless of road conditions.
