Default Possible to install HID or LED headlights in 98' Navigator

Hey folks!

New member here and thought I would reach out for some help. I am curious if anyone has had success converting the headlights in a 98-02 Navigator to either HID or LED. The car uses headlamp assembly

, there does not appear to be an "easy" way to convert these to HID or LED lights. I purchased both an LED and HID conversion kit but I couldn't see how they would work.

My thoughts:

I could make a hole in the back of the waterproof cap, run the HID connectors through, then seal back up with electrical tape and silicon. My problem is the HID light won't sit in the socket. Instead of placing the bulb in and turning to lock in place, this assembly has you put the bulb in strait and uses a black plastic gasket thing to lock in. It appears only the stock bulb can be locked in using the gasket.

Any ideas or shared experience would be great! Thanks to everyone.
