I recently purchased a 1994 Ford Explorer that had clutch problems. The clutch disc was worn down to the rivets, and the Flywheel and Pressure Plate had heat stress cracks in them. I purchased a Clutch kit from the local Ford dealer, and purchased a Slave Cylinder, New Flywheel, and Clutch Master Cylinder from NAPA. I got everything back together just fine, and used a vacuum pump to bleed the hydraulic system at the Slave Cylinder. The fluid comes out free of air bubbles, but there is no resistance like it is building up hydraulic pressure when the clutch pedal is depressed. Is there a better way to bleed the system? Or is there something I can get to check how much pressure the Clutch Master Cylinder is generating?

The only thing I haven't replaced is the hydraulic line itself. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

 

Throwout bearing is in place? Pressure plate is OK? If there's no leakage try bleeding the old-fashioned way. Make sure fluid level stays up while bleeding. Bleeding tool is more effective from over than under the bleeder screw height.

 

Also try slamming the bleeder screw closed while in process of pulling out air with the bleeder tool. This eliminates draw-back when you let off using the tool.
