problems with my 96' explorer
Hi I have a 96' explorer with auto trans.,and a 4.0 engine.
The problems I'm having is :
1) reverse lights don't work.(changed neutral safety switch)
2) O/D light flashing
a) hard shifting up and down shifting
b) sometime sticking in second gear
When O/D light is not flashing trans shifting is fine..
3) Power windows controls work only from drives's seatonly.

If you've replaced the TR (trans range sensor) and was aligned correctly, you must have a problem in the circuit/connector or power distribution.. Check fuse position #26/10amp.. There isn't much in the circuit to power the backups, and all of the symtoms you describe as far as harsh/firm shifts engagements or even wrong gear can occur for a bad or out of range TR sensor.. Or if power to the TR has failed..
Heres a few pics of the circuit and the power distribution...
