Default spare tire

hi everyone, i am a happy owner of a 98 ford explorer. the car runs really great so far.
i just have one quick question: i am having trouble getting the spare tire unhooked from
under the car. there is a part that twists right in the middle of the tire but i am having no luck.
i also removed the trunk rug and lid and there is a very small opening but i bought the car used
and i do not have the tool to operate the spare tire from the trunk. does anyone know how i can do this?
i kindly appreciate your reply.

Default RE: spare tire

Hi.
The spare tire hangs in a wire.
Between the rear bumper and the rubber list for the rear door there is a small hole.
Here you insert the rod for your jack, and turn it anti clockwise. The spare will then come down.
Anyway, its like that on my 97 Explorer.
Hope this was helpfull..

Arild.
