Default stereo lites

On our 2000 Exlorer Limited the lites on the stereo come on and go off when ever they like. Cant see the time, channel your on or tracks on cd. I would just replace the stereo, but I think the problem may be deeper then that or is it?

Anyone else have similiar problem?

O ya sometimes you can hear the blinker through the speakers clicking

The stereo problem is just a bad bulb (or LED - Light Emitting Diode). Replace it if it's a replaceable bulb or diode - otherwise get another stereo. The static noise requires an inline filter on your radio to eliminate it. I believe you use a noise suppressing capacitor of some sort to clear it up. I think it would be better to simply call it a radio noise suppressor.

I have the same problem. If you were to replace the bulb exactly where would it be located?

Likely on or inside the radios outer cover. Whether or not it's able to be taken apart easily I'm not sure (some radios have the case soldered on as part of its grounding system).

The later model radios have a light/diode circuit board and would need to be repaired.. Not like the radios of the 90's ect..

Yeah - it's likely you'll have to whip out your soldering iron and heat sinks and go to town. Or easier yet - get a new radio that plugs in easy.

Just replace it. It's a common problem with no fix. You can try Ebay or the local wrecking yard.

If the bulb is seperated from the display I'd be glad to give it a whirl fixing it if you wouldn't be dissappointed if I failed. Sometimes you get lucky with an easy fix - other times if a major component died it's cheaper to replace the whole deal - For sure. Some of the components are more expensive than the whole thing (that never makes a lot of sense to me though).
