02 f 150 pinion shaft
working on replacing rear axle seal and when i took the pinion lock bolt out i realized that the end is broke off and still in the shaft so i cant slide it out to push the axle in to get the clip off so i can get the shaft out any one run into this in the past , any ideas
I have used two different procedures and I was lucky each one worked.
One was to tap on the housing to help dislodge the already unstressed broken tip and carefully poke a small pick into the hole while trying to unscrew the remaining piece and then a magnetized small screwdriver to pull it out.
The other was to use a lefthanded drill bit in a drill and slowly work the broken piece out.
There may be other tricks to remove it, lets see what other suggestions other members come up with that might help if the above doesn't work for you.

thanks for the advise. unfortunatly it didnt work that easy. i drilled out the back of the diff pin till i could get in with a pointed die grinder and cleaned it out so i could push the diff pin in and then worked on the locking pin. what an adventure! thanks for the help
