05 f150 2x4 lift?
I got a new 05 f150 stx and i want to lift it, but nothing really big because its only a 2x4. What size lift do you guys recommend(3"?) and what size tires do i need?
I really just want it for looks and to drive around in the occasional snow. Is it stupid to raise a 2x4? I'm kinda new to this whole lifting thing so i have no clue what to look for.
Do i need new rims as well? I have the 17" chrome wheels. I don't want the big mud tires but i do want something thats all-terain.
Thanks for the help. Micah.
I want it to look kinda like this.

Fabtech suspension are known for their 2x4 lifts, my friend put it on his chevy siverado. looks great. I believe he got the 3" lift and looks good but not hella high. And he put 33's for tires on it.

to me lifts are ok, as long as they aren't the ones that are way overdone.

th rear end is already pretty high, if you want to raise the front so it doesn't look like its always taking a nose dive you could get a leveling kit, usually its new spindles with the 2 or 3" lift and makes your truck look level which also gives the apearamce of a lift, and you could fit 33's with no problems. the spindles were made by fabtech specially for the f150 4X2.
You have to put a lift on it. I have the 04 and i lifted it 6" and put 35s but with a 2x4 i would put a 3 of 4" inch lift and then i would but like 32s or 33 on it after that. It should look really good after that. If you going to do the lift put a Fabtech lift on it they are very good quality. I am very happy with it.
not sure what you are looking to do, but I had a '04 with fabtech's 7.5 ultimate. I had a gibson exhaust, detroit locker rear end and minor mods to the engine to bump it up an approx. extra 125 horse. I spend a-lot of time in the sanddunes and I can say that not too many 4 wheel drive trucks stood a chance next to my 2 wheel drive. I could climb the hill much better and win pretty much all of the drag races on the sand. I had a set of shaved down smoothie front tires and some pretty good paddles in back, but the truck performed like it was made for sand, small jumps were quite fun. I never got the ba**s to really test the suspension in the jumps, but what I did do was very smooth and the suspension really did well.
