Ford F150
Hey everyone, new to the forum. I am 16 years old, and I am looking to buy a F150. Obviously won't be getting my hands on anything newer than a 2001. I been searching the field for a while, since last year, and I have been finding plenty of 97-99, but all of them have over 100,000 miles. So thats a bummer, they range $4,000-$8,000. My question is, does the F150 a good truck after 100,000 miles. I know there great trucks because my dad has a 99. It runs great, never has gaven us a problem, has towed up to 18,000 woodchipper, and I am very imprssed with its overall structural power. Anyway, say if I do go with a 97, one of things that bothers be is the grill, I dont like them, is there a way to put a nicer grill on them etc. Thanks guys, appreciate any responses.

RE: Ford F150
If I were in your position, I would look to a 1999 to 2000 Ford F-150 XLT and a 4.6 or 5.4 liter V-8 auto. (1997 -1998 F-150s had bugs to work out). Get one with a good options package. Also 1999-2000 have more standard extras and power improvements. Look for off road package, tow package and 4x4. Make it a Supercab, 1999 and up have the 4 doors. My 1997 f-150 xlt S/C 4x4 truck has 215,000 miles but also a new engine and transmission, so go for 100,000 miles or so or less. A good 1999-2000 will go for about $12,500.

Don't buy it if you don't like it! because you won't take care of it and it won't take care of you.
Now a days, you should expect will over 100K miles. If maintance was keep up, I'd expect quite a few more K miles out of them, but I'd still look for one with as little milage as posible.
