Morning all, glad to be back on here. I just purchased an 07 supercrew FX4, it came with a 6" lift and a leveling kit, ProComp Xtreme 35x12.50x18. My issue is, it is scrubbing the front drivers side, cant stand that scrubbing, so I am thinking about going to a smaller size. I know that 33's will fit fine, but budget wise how do you think a 285/60/18 will look? I was told it is basically a 32x11.5, and they are bout $100 bucks cheaper per tire, thats a big difference. Also if you have any pics to post up with smaller that 35's that would be appreciated.

 

Afternoon, Its a tad strange you are rubbing with a 6" lift and level kit with 35's. Do you have a custom set of wheels on it? If so check your backspacing. I know of a guy that has a 08 i believe and he has 35 BFG KM2s with no rub and has a 6 inch lift but no level kit. Where exactly is it rubbing? Is it the lower valance (plastic piece under front bumper)? Yea those 285/60/18 would look ok but it will have alot more gap in between your fender and tire cause of smaller size. Does it rub on passenger side as well or just driver?

 

they are 18x10, they were on the truck when I bought it, and they are rubbing on the wheel well trim on the back, and only when turning left on the drivers side. Just looking for a tire much more pratical but that still looks good with the lift, the 35s put a hurting on the gas mileage, and living in the ga mtns. makes it work a little harder. I actually have thought bout removing the lift, but going to add cost to replace the parts that they replaced and I didnt get. The tires had a good deal of tread left,probably 75-80% on them, do not know if I can get enough out of the to replace them now, or just run the out, but that scrubbing drives me crazy, and I dont want to tear the fender trim off. and Im not adding spacers, tires stick out enough.

 

Maybe a narrower 35in would do the trick.

 

Yeah i was going to suggest that also Or you could just drop down to a 33" tire. Im trying to dig up a picture of my friends truck that had 33's on it before he put 35's on it to show you how it looks

 

On old knuckles there is an adjustment screw that works as a stop allows you to limit the travel of the steering. If your truck still has that you could just adjust the screws so the tires can't rub anymore. Your turning radius will still be the same since you can't turn past the rubbing point anyway.

 

It is just a minor rub on the drivers side, so I am going to trin the fender trim, and ride out the 35's, and then go to something a little smaller probably a 33x11.50, hopefully get some more economical gas mileage, getting 12 around town. Has a cold air intake, dual exhaust, may look at getting a programmer in the next couple of months to try and help it out.
I think the 285/60's may look a little small, even though they are bout 400-500 bucks cheaper.
