Default 1977 ford oil filter problems

Hello I recently just rebuilt my 1977 ford 400m which is in a f-150. And just today i went and started and it after about thirty second the oil filter came loose and i lost a gallon of oil. Luckily i was able to stop the engine before an major damage. My oil pressure gauge says i have about 70 pounds of oil pressure when its cold but when its hot and idling i have a 30 to 40 pounds.

Can anyone help me and help me solve this problem?

Thumbs up

Welcome to the site..

Stock pressure/volume oil pump? Aftermarket gauge?
30-40 idling 'hot' ain't bad . What's the pressure register at/on a cruise RPM-heated?

Loosing a gallon of oil is never a good thing, but not like you started and let it run at a gallon lower on the initial fill, or under a load. Took it a bit of time to bleed that amount out, and at 30 seconds, probably not an issue.
