Default ABS Light

Neighbor has 2005 F-150 with 5.4L Saturday morning it wouldn't start so i jump started it and sent him to the parts store, they checked it and said it was dead. They installed new battery and said ABS light will go off after approximately 10 miles of driving, 50+ miles later still on. Any help would be appreciated Thanks Beaglerock

You could try a forced reset by removing the negative battery cable from the battery post and holding it against the positive cable end for a few minutes. Then reconnect it. Drive the vehicle for a few miles to allow it to reset all the parameters. If the light still will not go out there may be a problem with one of the wheel speed sensors. Places like Autozone could check for any codes and let you know in what area the problem resides.

Seems like the battery trick might damage something electrical but maybe not, if it was mine I might try that. It's too bad my little actron won't read the ABS module but that's the way it goes, I've got a friend at Advance Auto and maybe he'll reset it, he's not supposed to but that's what friends do Thanks for the info hanky
