Default 1988 ford 302 brakes stopped working!

I bled my brakes a few weeks ago after I got it back from the tranny shop. Wasn’t the greatest but decent, I ran around today heading to town and my brakes give, I’m on the floor and it barely feels like it’s braking. I killed it on the side of the road and pumped it engine off, I had enough brake to drop it off at a safe spot. Any ideas to why this happend?

Let's take a little different approach here, OK .

First , look at the fluid level in the brake master cyl. If it has dropped down, there is a leak in the brake lines for the hydraulic system.

You will need at least a quart of DOT3 brake fluid.

Second- Fill the master cyl and depress the brake pedal 2 or 3 times to pump brake fluid back into the lines.Don't push the brake pedal to the floor. If you do , you will score the cups in the master cyl and now it also has to be replaced..
Then, go under your vehicle and look at the brake lines , that run along the driver's side of the chassis frame of your vehicle. You would see a wet spot where the brake line rusted through if this is what happened..
Before going further, let us know if this is what happened . If it is, we can offer the procedure to repair and what parts you would need , OK ?

Okay, well the reservoir is full and I haven’t seen any wet spots nor rust in any place. I don’t mean to but I tend to leave out some information.. so my rear brakes haven’t worked but me and my dad have pulled the brake lines and cleaned every section of it frame to the back. They were all clean and we pumped till fluid squirted out from the rear and repeated to the front. This was about 3-4 months ago. Now I bled the brakes a few weeks ago but I gradually lost my brakes yesterday. Some people today told me it was more than likely the master cylinder from what they heard

If the master cyl reservoir is still full, that would mean the master cyl is leaking internally and will need to be replaced.

Before you can install the replacement master cyl on your vehicle it needs to be bench bled to fill with brake fluid and remove all the air so it doesn't get transferred to the hydraulic system. Just type in , how to bench bleed a master cyl before installing on vehicle. It will save you a lot of extra work..

During constant use sediment builds up in the master cyl bore and if the pedal goes to the floor, the rubber cups get scored and now it leaks internally and will not buildup the needed pressure.
Take your time and do it right, your safety and those around you depends on everything being done right.
You might want to check that your rear brakes are adjusting correctly, because if they are not, will result in low brake pedal.

I have took my time on it, put fittings on and bench bled the cylinder, kept bleeding till there was barely any bubbles. But I still don’t have any pressure at the petal. I had a helper with me and we’ve rinsed and repeated for roughly 2 hours after bench bleeding, unless I did something wrong? I watched videos on bleeding and I followed the instructions. And I don’t have any pressure. Even after I mounted it I put the lines back on and bled from there and I still nothing. But some air came out then it was fluid, but it wasn’t a stream, it was oozing and that’s all I can get out of it as of right now

You could have a leak in the hydraulic system..

If the master is full and you have a helper push the brake pedal down while you look under the vehicle , IF there is a leak you should have no trouble seeing the fluid running down to the ground. Don't forget to look at each of the wheels too, one of them could have a leak there also, you would see the fluid running down the inside of the wheel.

Apologies for a late response, but no leak in the system from what I seen. But on my master cyl I had 3 lines hooked to it, the 3rd line was running into my truck for the old trailer brake system, it was on an adapter block that ran into the front brakes I believe. But air was in that line and I was fighting that the whole time 🤦‍♂️, pressure was running into the air filled line than running to the system cause air compresses. I learned a little bit from that and now I’m getting pressure again, I still need to bleed the lines though. Air is still in the system but I believe I can tackle it from here. I appreciate the help!!
