ohh yeah... I'm pritty sure that Ford pickups of our years dont use Autolite plugs as OEM. they may be the same length, threds, and everything but one thing alot of people don't know is that they have different temperature ratings for ignition. hotter temp, or lower all depends on how much ceramic is touching the metal core for heat transfer.

If your sure that the plug gap is getting smaller than it may be that you dont have the right plugs in. if the piston is slapping the plugs and bending the electrodes closer than it may not spark, or wont spark as much because electricity would rather go the easier way, and just go sideways to the core, or if the electrodes are touching than it will go the right way, but not spark either. look up the OEM spark plug part number in your owners manual, or online. get them, or a brand that fits right and has same requirments.

alright, the truck is in the shop right now getting a little brake work, when i get it back tomorrow i'll check into the spark plug matter and the possibly get the correct ones. i suppose it is possible that if advance gave me the wrong spark plugs then they also gave me the wrong wires and distributor cap. is there any way i can know for sure about these two parts?
