1996 f150 ignition cylinder problems
So I got in my truck to start it up and my key spun all the way around and didn't start the truck and didn't have a stop point. I replaced the ignition cylinder easy enough and now it starts the truck and the key has a stopping point but when I go to turn the key backwards to turn the truck off it does not turn off the truck and all the electrical stays on. The only thing I saw in the cylinder was a wire connected to a brass terminal that came unhooked from the side of the cylinder so I put it back but still doesn't turn off the truck. What am I missing there to fix this?

There is a rack that the lock cyl moves and that is connected to a rod that moves the actual ign sw that is located on the lower part of the steering column near the brake pedal. You may need to remove the lock cylinder and line up the parts so they all are where they are supposed to be. If I am not mistaken , the lock cyl has to be in the on position to remove and install the cylinder. This is always better to do with the negative cable removed from the battery post.
