Did I little searching on here, but couldn't find the answer I wanted. So here's the scoop.

My 97' F-150 does not like to shift out of park, after checking some things, the brake lights work at various levels of peddle pressure, and as most of you know, if the brake lamps are not on, the vehicle will not shift. This started about a week ago and I don't have any problems driving it, but sometimes it takes a while to find a pressure on the brake peddle that works to shift.

So I am just wondering is there a fix for this, and what is the issue? Fuses are good. Is there a sensor for the brake that's not getting a good connection or voltage?

 

I think that there was a recall on those something to do with a fuse or something like that on the master cylinder. and the brake light switch may or may not be sticking you might want to replace the switch and see if that doesn't do the trick.
