2002 F150 Gear swap?
Okay, so after doing some thinking and hearing from lots of other ford enthusiasts. My truck currently is fx4 package, 5.4l v8, 4x4, i am unsure of the stock gearing size but i know ive been told that its 3.73 and the gearing is what causes the lack in mpg and ive seen a few posts about gear swapping but never really found much info on them.
Now for the biggest part, ive heard people upgrading the gears from stock to 4.10, 4.11, 4.56, what is the difference between these??
I do have boats that i pull that are roughly 3k lbs and i do drive on the interstate, 75mph, occasionally. And the way its sounding i might be putting quite a few miles on when it comes to interstate driving.
What all does it take to swap gears? Now this might sound strange because i havent exactly poked around a lot... but some people talk about swapping gears on the front axle on f150s... as far as i know mine has cv axles which means it runs through a transfer case and dont have a solid front axle if im correct?
