I am all excited! My qaulity used (quoting the ebay seller) steering wheel has arrived. I open it up. Set it on the table. Get some tools and my camera to document the removal and installation... I come back... Then I notice the steering wheel is not sitting flat on the table. I look again. The top half of the steering wheel is bent back as if it was in a collision and the force of the person clenching on to the wheel for dear life has bent it back. I look down across the bottom half of the steering wheel where the air bag sits on and that portion is gone. It looks like someone hacked it off with a hack saw and has marred the aluminum underneath it.

I checked the listing to verify that any of this was documented... It's not it just says quality used steering wheel. I clean and check them myself. Then it says if there is a scratch or something it's the buyers responsibility to see that in the picture. I would not sell something I would not put on my own vehicle.

So, needless to say, I contacted the buyer and told him that I do not believe the steering wheel to be a quality used part and there was nothing describing that the wheel was bent and or cut. It says that there may or may not be scratches or have normal wear for that year. If you have a replacement, please send me one.

I looked at the photos, all photos are at a top angle or side angle and not straight on and the back and bottom is not photoed at all. His listing says no returns on used products. So hopefully he finds me a replacement and works with me. If not I may have to open a case with ebay.

We will see where this goes. Man... So close... so close...

That is unfortnate. Sorry you had a bad experience with a eBay seller. I have done a lot of purchasing and haven't had trouble yet. There seems to always be a few dishonest people out there though.
Do you have the sellers ID? Just so I know who not to deal with.
If the switches are not damaged could you swap them?
The anticipation and dissappointment must be maddening at times given how long you have been trying to get this done.
I have to drive back to Texas in April for inspection and am VERY thankful you started this thread. If not, I would have given up after the four unsuccessful tries.

He said that the photos are obvious and that anyone can see how it looks. He said its all normal wear and tear and that I should ise the plastic trim off of the back of my current wheel. He said that of I want one with good trim buy a new wheel and return it. So I said I would return it. I said I will return it and would like a full refund
I explained to him the auction only showed normal wear but the photos did not show the bent wheel or the cut and missing trim. I said they were misleading and i would not had purchased it if that was shown in the photoa and explained in the description. He got rude woth me and said buddy send the steering wheel back. There are soany photos of it and i have a rock solid ad. Ill refund the wheel. I went ahead and created he shipping label for it
It costs 23.00 to ship back. I'll send it back and see what he does. The seller was tiff_fan8. I forgot that the post office was closed today so Ill ship ot tomorrow.

This is a good idea actually, time & hassle & depending on what that wheel cost vs. The cost of the switches themselves. Especially if you have to factor in any expected loss in the return process, return shipping etc. (though you SHOULDN'T)!

I don't know if they are damaged. I ended up shipping it back. If I swapped the switches, I would have to cut the holes into my wheel. Trust me when I say, I have seriously thought about it... I am trying to post some pics of that wheel so you can see it.

I received a full refund. I ended up purchasing a new one for a little more. Cost me 93 with shipping. Then after i received a notice that it was shipped I found a gray one that matches my interior. The one i purchased is black... so... not surr ig I should buy that one too so it will match then I just sell the black one. Aye... They really should make cruise control a standard in all F150s.

No kidding. very silly of Ford, but then again its not about what makes sense or what we want. Hopfully your persistance will pay off. Let us know if with the new wheel all goes as planned.

Holy crap! what a joke. At least they were straight enough to give you a refund. 9 out of 10 times I've been happy with ebay, but it really stinks when the seller is lying about the condition of the item and a SUPER PAIN to get most of your money back.

I received the second steering wheel today. Doesn't look that bad. After looking over it I decided to take some photos of it with a ruler to show you the dimensions if you wanted to cut your own steering wheel. Hoping it would make your change over easier. The cut outs in it look very simple to make with a box cutter or dremel. The wiring is very easily run. The control switches cost around $22 - $75 depending on where you get them. you just have to be sure to get the wire harness that will accomodate either the cruise control or volume/bluetooth buttons. I am tempted to experiment with it myself and cut the hole for the cruise control on my factory steering wheel and installing it them maybe either replacing the steering wheel with the original color or selling my old steering wheel.

So what I can tell... There are three pin holes. One on the sides and bottom of the wheel. You push a narrow pick tool or screw driver into the holes and they release the airbag... Then there is a bolt with a pin that holds the wheel in place. I haven't removed the wheel but I will post something to show everyone what I have done. The wireharness that I have on this wheel is marked with: 0-1452015-2094642.
