2010 F150 Cruise Control
There was no charge for the mechanic at the dealer to call the tech. He just told the tech that I purchased a wheel from them and he needed help with the programming. The tech never questioned him and talked him through the programming. The dealer was Tim Castellaw Ford in Dyersburg,TN.
Funny thing that. I scheduled the appointment with the service manager. I showed up 10 minutes early. The one and only tech at the dealer that is capable of doing electrical work had to take the day off or loose a day of vacation. Now, I don't blame a guy for taking a day off in liue of loosing one but you'd think that there would be better communication between HR, the Employee, the manager and then God for bid the customer! So, long story shortened. No. I did not get the cruise control working. I do have another appointment scheduled for this coming Friday, provided someone at Blue Bonnet Ford doesn't get run over, or the dealership goes out of business, or their computer gets a virus.....
So, I call before driving the 35 miles to make sure the tech will be there. Service Manager Gary says yep he is here. So, I drive out there, wait an hour to have the service manager tell me the tech refuses to program my truck.
The &*%K you say?! And just why not? "Because it will involve making an unauthorized change to the PCM and Ford Motor Company specifically said not to make changes to my PCM." My response is " You couldn't tell me that on the Freakin phone before I drive out here for the eight time??? " Give me back my money! No, the tech gets paid whether what he does, works or not. Give me back my money (much louder). Okay. See the cashier. I did speak directly with the tech. He said he would call the Cruise Control Store and do the programming if he hadn't already called Ford to see why the PCM won't enable the cruise and been told not to try. He suggested I find a wrecker service that has a scan tool and have them call the CC store. I have spoken with Michael. He said the tech is missing a step and I confirmed with the tech that he does not go into the second module of the program. I surrender.
For now.

Don't have any mechanic frends, bummer.
Hi,
New here to the forum. I watched this thread when I bought my 2010 f150 last year. I decided to roll the dice and try this. Ordered a new cruise control steering wheel from my dealers parts department. walked into service with the wheel and told them what I wanted to do. Half the guys in there said "That won't work" One guy said they could give it a try but no guarantees. Two hours later new wheel installed, cruise control set up on the computer, working fine. The wheel was just over $200 form the dealer, $165 to program the cruise. Ford of Branford in Connecticut did the install for me. Very happy with the people there and the results. It's been 3 months since the install, no problem, no glitches, everything works fine. i'd recommend this swap to anyone.
