Question 2010 Ford F150 Tire Preference

Have a FX4 Ford F150 with 20" Pirelli Scorpions ATR on it. Approx 33K miles. Tires are wearing on edges and I'm going to be looking for replacements.

Are there better tires on the market then the Pirelli's? Looking for a smoother ride if possible that has good grip in winter.

Thanks Rich

Just something to look at or think about.

Don't know where you live, but I run Hercules Avalanche X-TREME SUV snow tires year around. I get about 40K+ out of them. Now mind you I have a Ford freestar, not an F-150, but these tires stick to everything, are actually quite quiet for a snow tire and they actually make my van ride and handle alot smoother. I do run a larger tire than stock (P235/70R16 vs. P225/60R16). They also have their Avalanche X-TREME LT tire (same tread) if you want deeper lugs. I also run a higher than Ford stated tire pressure (40 vs. 36). My tires run flat across the tread with no feathering and being a snow tire, no worries about hydroplaning in rain. I've had no heat related issues with highspeed driving when I take the van to Texas, New Mexico, Florida or Arizona in the summer time. Hercules is owned by Cooper Rubber, so the quality is there. Or you may want to surf there other Light Truck Tire treads.

most people don't know this but the bigger the rim the less tire you have to ride on for clearance issues and to stop them from rubbing. I don't know what the stock rim size is for that truck. but 20" rims seems to be a bit big. it looks like you're riding on the rims and not enough tire

Just looking to replace the stock tires that came on the truck. Believe they are p275/55-20. Not aftermarket, came from factory this way.

If you want all around tires that are good in snow, the BFG ATs and Duratracs are worth considering.

Question

Considering Firestone Destination AT tires for the truck. Anyone have these on theirs and report how they like them? Thanks

We have quite a few company vehicles with them on (F-250s, F350s and Ram 2500s). Seem to wear decent and the guys tend to like them. I've personally never had a problem with any Firestone tires I have run in the past on personal vehicles (85 Mid-Sized LTD, 88 Ranger XLT S/C 4X4, 92 Aerostar XLT, 97 Explorer Sport, 01 Explorer Sport).
