I have a 2011 F-150 XLT. I am having trouble with my speedometer dropping to 0 and my odometer going to all ---------. RPM's stay up and the truck still drives. Once or twice it has actually dropped to a lower gear while driving almost 70mph. Sounds like something Ford did a recall for in 2016 but they say my vehicle was not part of the recall. I apparently do not have a external Vehicle Speed Sensor. Any assistance with this problem would be appreciated.

 

Is it possible for you to have the computer checked for any codes. Many auto supply stores will do this for you free of charge. The code(s) will not necessarily tell you what part(s) could be malfunctioning, but they should provide some direction to investigate further.Let us know if you can do this and if so get the code(s) and provide them here. There are several folks here that might be able to help or at least offer some useful suggestions.

 

I had the codes checked. The only code was P07022.

 

Can you check the sticker on the driver's side door pillar and tell us what code it shows for the trans in your vehicle?

The code on my door sticker is 6. I called Ford about the recall and they said my truck was not included in that recall. Right year, right plant, I guess it was the wrong production date
