2014 F-150 Eco Boost XLT died at intersection.
Hello everyone,
Thought I'd come on here and ask if you can give me some info on my truck.
Driving it yesterday, my truck decided to just die on me in the middle of a intersection.
I lost all engine power. Came to a stop, parked it, turned it off, started back up and was able to drive into a store parking lot.
I left it over night.
This morning went up to see if I could bring it home. Started up fine, sounded fine. Start coming down the road. Once I passed 30 mph.
truck died again. Wrench pops up center dash. Come to a stop. park, shut off, turn back on. Can drive again.
I was able to make it home if I stay below 30mph. If I pass that. Truck dies.
Last night I thought it was the fuel pump speed module. So ordered one of them. But don't think that is the issue now. I get gas.
But truck has no power and dies when it reaches a certain speed.
Blown valve? bad spark plugs? bad engine? I know very little about vehicles. But have changed simple stuff in the past, like spark plugs.
Kind of hoping it could be something I can fix, since money is tight right now.
Any help on what I should read up on or what to expect if I can get it into a shop. Appreciate any help.

We can suspect all sorts of things, however, the better thing to do would be to see what codes might be in the Powertrain computer.
It does sound from what you describe that the system may be in "Limp Mode". The system does that to prevent any further damage to certain components, and allow the operator to get to a service facility for diagnosis and repairs. What also may be happening is the system resets when you turn the key off and that might be why it allows it to restart.
If you want to , read up on "Fly by wire" Electronic throttle control. . At least you might have some idea what might be taking place and hopefully soften the blow of cost to repair.

I would love to see a follow up video to find out what the problem was and how it was treated by the dealer. Obviously this would be frustrating but not catastrophic. It's under warranty. If its reoccurring I'm sure Ford will replace the truck. Nothing mechanical will ever be perfect. Tutuapp 9Apps Showbox

Sorry about the long delay on updating what was going on.
I called ford and they wanted me to take it in to them and let it sit for about a week before they could get to it.
So I went to the store and got a code reader.
I had issues with a sparkplug coil and all my spark plugs where shot.
I ended up changing them all myself. Got a new coil for one cylinder and all new spark plugs and boots for the rest.
After doing this the truck ran great again. But not that great. It don't have power like it used to.
Before this happened I barely touched the gas and my truck would peel out. Now it runs more smooth and idles low.
It's been running good since I changed them and I changed them twice since this happened. Well just the spark plugs and boots again. Going to change those every 6 months.
Still have minor issues with the truck. Currently dealing with it dying on me constantly. something is draining my battery power now.

It would be a good idea to carry the code reader with you maybe even hooked up to the vehicle..
When you turn the key off it allows the system to reset,,,,,,,,,,,so with the reader hooked up check for the codes BEFORE you turn the key off.
Let us know what you find.
