Default 2019 Ford F-150 with 5.0v8

So I just bought a 2019 Ford F-150 crew cab with the 3.55 gears and 5.0 v8. Got the Stx to save some $. Will be used to tow my 2002 stratos 18xl and as a daily driver. Now I am reading and seeing that the 2018 5.0’s had all kind of oil consumption issues and even had a Tsb for this problem. Also saw an article today that ford will be reducing shifts at the plant making the 5.0. Anybody have a 2018 or 2019 F-150 with the 5.0v8 and had any of these issues or others? Hope buying the 5.0 was not a mistake.

No problems here at 20k miles. Fords use oil, and a little extra when new. Check it 2-3 times during the cycle.

Something to consider,

When engines were first manufactured they used a "Break in oil " to allow the rings to seat. Today they put synthetic oil in right from the start and this oil is so good it won't allow the rings to wear a little to seat and prevent oil consumption. Synthetic oil is harder to burn and I don't know where it goes. I have found a few thousand (one or two) miles allows the rings to seat and oil problems go away. There is a downside to this ,however, and that is other parts of the engine wear when the recommended oil is not used and that opens a whole new set of problems.

yep, mine is burning 1 quart of oil every 2000 miles. The F150 5.0l has 16000 miles and is one year old. They put a new dip stick that measures 2 quarts of oil, this only confuses the mechanics. So when the do an oil consumption test they think they are looking at 1 quart reading. The procedure now requires the mechanic mark where 1 quart of oil is with a min/max line. I am fighting with the dealer just to get an oil consumption test run.

I also own the F150. I modified its headlights recently. It looks very nice. I want to recommend it to you. I hope you like it.

Default Terrible mistake and it will never happen to me again

It’s a common issue for that engine and there is more on the way. Disappointed with Ford

Wrong! Toyota uses synthetic and doesn't have this problem. Engines don't need to be broken in!!! Ford can't build a motor, it is why they are last in quality, even below Chevy. If you are buying Ford's excuses shame on you.

Default 2018 F150 V8 10 speed

By far the worse vehicle i have ever had. I have owned 3 F150s, ford explorer, and a Excursion. I purchased the 2018 f150 in 2019 and it will be my last ford vehicle. The vehicle makes a weird noise when i decelerate before it reaches operating temp, engine is knocking, and using 2.5 quarts of oil between changes. Dealerships are telling me this is normal....BS! I have never had a vehicle that uses oil, oil usage is a sign of engine problems. Never again!

There is a reason for all this and it may not be as bad as imagined. Before going off the deep end it might be a good move to get a little more info as to what is going on.

That answer , "They all do that" is usually a canned reply to accommodate the irate customer.

Fords are particularly sensitive to the correct motor oil used and if not followed as recommended can result in some problems.

Default F150 Excess Oil Consumption

I have a 2020 F150 with the 5.0L. 66K miles. It drinks 1 quart oil every 600 miles. Bought used with no extended warranty. Has anyone known or have heard of a dealer replacing an engine with this issue that is out of warranty? TY for replies.
